The School Board and District has been working effectively and in a collegial manner. This is good news, as is the fact that the Superintendent and staff have pulled together to create what looks to be a responsible budget. They plan on staying below the 2% cap this year, and that indicates the District is under solid leadership. Hats off to Rich Burns, Board members, and especially the staff who are pulling together to make things work in the current financial environment. They are working together for our kids, and the taxpayers. ___________________________________________________________________ ON BOARD MEMBERS.... Board members do not evaluate staff or administrators, nor are they authorized to do so by law or contract, they do not direct operations, or give direction to staff. The Board can only grant tenure to an employee upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, and the Superintendent is the only employee evaluated by the board. Remember... the Board is there to work on YOUR behalf as taxpayers and Parents - They welcome input - let them know what you think is important. _________________________________________________________________________ Positive Work Environment .......................................................................... It is because of these unique legal limitations that the education system has checks and balances. It is all the more important that board members work effectively and in a positive manner with administrators, and their fellow board members.
